Mast Diagnostica GmbH offers a comprehensive panel of molecular diagnostic kits for clinical and environmental laboratories. For the molecular diagnostic kits 2 different amplification methods are used. Most of the diagnostics kits are based on conventional real time PCR kits while for Norovirus in clinical and other human pathogens in food samples an isothermal Loop mediated amplification (LAMP or Loopamp®) method is used.
Real time PCR
Detailed clinical studies confirm the high specificity and sensitivity of these methods, permitting early identification of clinically significant infections. The included internal control excludes false-negative results (due to inhibition of the reaction by the sample matrix) for each sample. The panel of real time PCR kits for clinical laboratories includes detection of Mycoplasma, Legionella, Chlamydia trachomatis, Bordetella pertussis/parapertussis and Treponema pallidum.
For environmental laboratories we offer a kit for detection of Legionella from water samples. All PCR kits are CE-labelled and adaptable to most of the used real time thermocycler.
LAMP or Loopamp®
In the year 2000 Notomi and co-workers developed a new method for the amplification of nucleic acids. This method based on loop induced isothermal amplification and therefore named as LAMP or Loopamp®. LAMP is a simple, rapid, specific and cost-effective nucleic acid amplification method solely developed by Eiken Chemical Co., Ltd. The rapid amplification is a one step reaction with high sensitivity and specificity. The biggest advantage is the amplification of RNA- or DNA templates within 30-60 minutes at constant temperature of 60-65°C. No complicated or expensive thermo cyclers are required.
The Loopamp® products are offered either as complete kits, primer sets and separate DNA and RNA amplification kits.
